About Us

Matt Lathrop has been a life-long resident of Omaha, Nebraska.  He received a Bachelor's Degree in Arts from Creighton University, in 1988.  Immediately after, he attended Creighton University School of Law, and received his Law Degree in 1991.  

After graduation from Law School, he was admitted to practice law in the Nebraska and U.S. District Court, District of Nebraska, and worked for the Nebraska Supreme Court as a Law Clerk for the Hon. Justice John T. Grant.  From 1992 to 2007, he was an attorney with Hauptman, O'Brien, Wolf & Lathrop, PC, in Omaha. 

In 2007, he opened the Law Office of Matthew A. Lathrop, where he focuses his practice in the areas of Personal Injury Law; General Civil Litigation; Workers' Compensation Law; and Medical Malpractice.

Matt Lathrop has been an invited speaker at numerous State and National Trial Lawyer Seminars, on the topics of Medical Evidence; Juror Bias; Insurance Law; Workers' Compensation; Ethics; Recent Developments in the Law; and Trial Lawyer Practice Pointers.

Matt Lathrop is a member of:

  • Previously Served  as 8th Circuit Governor American Bar Association/Law Student Division, 1990-1991

In 2007 he was admitted as a Fellow to the Nebraska State Bar Foundation.

He has served on District Two Committee on Inquiry (Disciplinary Review Committee) from 2004-present.

Matt Lathrop is married to Peggy, and they have four children; Jack, Grace, Caroline and Michael. 

Matt Lathrop is a volunteer for his church, St. Robert Bellarmine, in Omaha, as a soccer coach and in the church choir.  He has previously served in the Family Ministry Committee.  He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 2002. 

He was born in Omaha Nebraska, March 12, 1966

He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Honors Society.

Lathrop is to serve personal injury clients with the best possible representation and flexible hours to meet the needs of the client.  It is our mission to serve each client as an individual and with the highest degree of professionalism.  We want to earn each client's trust, respect and friendship by always placing his or her needs first.

Talking to your lawyer should be easy, relaxing and comforting.  He should speak to you in ways that are at the same time informative and understandable.  We strive to be approachable and a credit to the profession in all our dealings we have with anyone who comes into contact with the legal profession

Who We Are

Our office is very fortunate to have Abbie Greenfield as a vital part of our team. 

Abbie works as a paralegal for the Law Office of Matthew A. Lathrop.

She was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska.  She received her Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from Hamilton College in 2007.  She is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree at Creighton University.

She has worked in the legal field since 1999.  Abbie is fluent in Spanish, serving as an interpreter for Department of Health and Human Services and various local law firms needing help servicing the Spanish-speaking community.

She has one son; Alex.
