Maren Collins accepted the Senior Litigation Paralegal the Law Office of Matthew A. Lathrop in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and started while the firm was operating remotely in May of 2020.

Maren was raised in Nebraska, in a small town, until moving to Omaha as a sophomore in high school.  She graduated from Millard North.  Maren jokes that she took the scenic route in college.  She started as an aerospace engineering major and eventually found her love of the law and graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies from the College of St. Mary in 2005.  After graduation, she studied for and passed the Certified Paralegal exam from NALA, the Paralegal Association.  Her career has been primarily focused on personal injury litigation and pre-litigation.  In 2018, Maren earned her Advanced Certified Paralegal accreditation in Trial Practice.

Maren loves being a go-to for clients of the firm.  If she does not know the answer, she will find out! Maren values working at a firm that treats clients like family.  It is important to her that clients know that the Law Office of Matthew A. Lathrop really cares about their problems and will help solve them. She is an Online Notary in the State of Nebraska and is able to help clients sign documents safely and remotely.

Maren enjoys spending time with her husband and her daughter, and her rescue dog, Moonshine.  She is the vice president of the parent-teacher organization at her daughter’s school and co-chair of the Scholastic book fair.  Maren also is also the co-chair of the Student Education Award committee for the Nebraska Paralegal Association.  She also serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the College of Saint Mary ABA-accreditation program.

Maren is a Danish family name and rhymes with Car - in.  She never minds when people automatically think it rhymes with Karen.  Everyone does that!
